Quaid-e-Azam Medical College Bahawalpur

This Medical College was founded in 1970 and it is affiliated with Bahawal Victoria Hospital for clinical training of the students and it have been providing health care facilities to a population of around 12 millions and have been rendering yeoman's service to the country by producing 3282 medical graduates till the year 1997. From its period of infancy this institution has now blossomed into a center of tertiary care and postgraduate courses, i.e. DOMS, DCP, DCH, M.S. Basic departments

There are 8 basic departments in the college i.e. Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Behavioral Sciences, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Pathology, and Community Medicine. Each department has separate building where they teach the students of college.

Every department has its own lecture hall where lectures are given to the students. All the basic departments are full filling the needs of Medical students. They have their tutorial rooms, museums, and practical labs.

Clinical departments

For the clinical teachings of medical students of Punjab Medical College classes are held in the clinical departments of Allied Hospital and DHQ Hospital.

Many clinical departments have been separated as individual unit over last few years and now working as a sub specialty. There are 4 medical and 4 surgical units in whole.

Psychiatry, Chest diseases, and Dermatology departments are present in DHQ hospital while rest are present in Allied Hospital.

Gynecology and ENT departments are present in both hospitals. Gynecology II is present in DHQ Hospital while Gynecology I and ENT I & II are present in Allied Hospital.

The University of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore, will conduct Entrance Test for admission into Public and Private Medical and Dental Institutions of the Punjab on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 at 09:00 A.M. Passing Entrance Test of UHS, with a minimum score of 60% marks, is mandatory for admission into all public or

private sector medical or dental institution of the province. It is also a mandatory requirement for University Registration of MBBS and BDS students admitted in all affiliated institutions.

A. Eligibility Criteria for Entrance Test

1. A candidate who has appeared in F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) Part-II or Equivalent Examination, provided that
a) He / she presents F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) Part-I Marks Certificate attested by the Head of his / her Institution.

b) He / she provides a Certificate issued by the Head of the Institute where he / she is admitted stating that he / she has appeared in F.Sc. (Part-II) or Equivalent.

2. A candidate who has passed F.Sc. (Pre-Medical) or Equivalent Examination with a minimum of 65% Marks (excluding the marks of Hifz-e-Quran).

B. Format of Entrance Test

1. Entrance Test shall consist of 220 multiple choice questions (MCQs) which will be divided in four sections, namely:
Physics - 60 MCQs
Chemistry - 60 MCQs
English - 30 MCQs

Biology - 70 MCQs


2. Time allowed for the Entrance Test shall be 150 minutes.

3. Entrance Test pass percentage is 60%.

A. Syllabus of Entrance Test

1. There shall be separate tests for F.Sc. and Non-F.Sc. candidates at the same time from their respective syllabi and books.

2. Non-F.Sc. candidates taking the test of F.Sc. students shall be disqualified from the test and vice versa.

3. Syllabi for both F.Sc. and Non-F.Sc. Groups are available at UHS website.

B. Centres for Entrance Test

1. Entrance Test 2010 will be held simultaneously in following cities:
Southern Punjab:Bahawalpur , Multan, Rahim Yar Khan, and D.G. Khan.
Central Punjab:Lahore, Faisalabad, Sahiwal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, and Sargodha.
Northern Punjab:Rawalpindi and Hasan Abdal

2. Candidates can mention on their application form the centre city from which they wish to appear in the test. Centres will be allotted by UHS subject to administrative / logistic arrangements which shall not be changed subsequently.

Admission Procedure:-

This test is conducted by an independent agency called National Testing Service (NTS). For further information about the NTS and the testing process applicants may get assistance at CIIT's offices.

General Eligibility & Merit Criteria for BS Programs



For admission to BS programmes, Candidates should have at least 50% marks in HSSC or equivalent.
Merit for Admission will be based on academic record (40%) and written test (60%).
All Bachelor degree programmemes are designed for duration of 4-years except B.A/LL.B which is designed for 6-years duration (including one year language programmeme Arabic & English).
Candidates holding degrees from other Universities shall be admitted as Provisional Students and shall be required to study/pass prescribed preparatory course work before qualifying for regular courses. Time spent for preparatory courses shall not be counted towards normal duration of a degree. Students studying preparatory courses shall not be allowed to register


Test Schedule:
Schedule for admission test is available on IIUI website www.iiu.edu.pk. No Separate call letter will be issued to any candidate.
Result of the admission Test will be announced through IIUI website within five days after the date of admission test.
There will be no interview for BBA/BS/LLB programmes.
